Leoch Electric Scooters Recalled for Fire and Shock Hazards

Target is recalling approximately 74,811 Leoch-brand electric scooters, also sold as "Red Dragon" and "E-Scooter," due to improper wiring that can cause short circuits and fire hazards. Inadequate insulation on the electrical wiring also poses a shock hazard. The scooters, manufactured by Leoch E-Vehicle Ltd. in China, were sold at Target stores nationwide from February 2003 through June 2004 for about $200. The affected model number is DK24250-3.
Target has received two reports of the scooters catching fire, including two reports of the scooters causing house fires. There have been 13 reports of scooters starting or moving on their own, resulting in one person receiving scratches. Additionally, there have been five reports of property damage.
