Lang Candles, of Delafield, Wis., is recalling approximately 92,000 Thematic Candles. The recalled products were sold in 57 different models and themes, including birdhouse, watering can, flowerpot, and holiday designs. The candles generally measured 1½ to 4 inches in height and 2½ to 3 inches in width and were available in various fragrances such as vanilla, eucalyptus, lavender, and butter pecan. Most units were filled with wax or contained a metal wax-filled cup. A label on the bottom of the candles reads, "LANG CANDLES, LTD. 800.260.8297 www.lang.com MADE IN CHINA."

The recall was issued because resin in the candleholder can ignite, posing a serious burn and fire hazard to consumers. Lang Candles has received nine reports of the candles igniting, which resulted in six reports of property damage. No injuries have been reported.

The candles were sold at small craft and candle stores from September 2001 through May 2003 for between $9 and $13. They were sold individually and in prepacks of two or three units. Consumers should stop using the candles immediately and contact Lang Candles at (800) 260-8297 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. CT Monday through Friday, or visit www.lang.com to view pictures of the recalled models and receive instructions for a refund.
