Ontel Products Corp. is recalling approximately 32,900 units of the Little Red Chef Food Slicer, also known as The Kitchen Magic Food Slicer. The red plastic slicer, which contains six roller blades at the front and a single slicing blade on top, was sold between August 2000 and May 2003 for less than $15. The product was sold via QVC, TV direct sales, and trade promotion shows nationwide. The slicer is stamped "Made in W. Germany" and "Famos Gerate" on the inside of the handle and features a four-pointed star. Only units sold without the protective blade cover are included in this recall.
The recall is being issued because the exposed slicing blade on top of the unit can cut a consumer's fingers or hand during use. Ontel Products is aware of one report of a consumer cutting her finger while using the product.
Consumers should stop using the recalled food slicer immediately. When contacting the company, consumers should include their name and mailing address.
