The recall is due to a defect in the remote shutoff switch system. For the remote switch to work, the receiver switch on the ATV must be in the on position. It was possible for the ATV to be started with the receiver switch in the off position. In this scenario, the remote switch could not shut off the ATV if the rider began to act in an unsafe manner, which could cause serious bodily harm. No injuries have been reported.

These ATVs were sold at dealerships nationwide from August 2002 through January 2003 for approximately $1,500. Consumers should stop using these ATVs immediately and contact their local dealer to schedule a repair appointment. Owners have already been notified.
