Innova Ultrex Frying Pans Recalled for Explosion and Burn Hazards

The recall was issued because the pans can explode or separate when preheated, used on high heat, or used for frying. This malfunction can cause hot oil or food contents to spill onto consumers, posing a serious burn hazard. Innova has received 16 reports of the frying pans exploding, including two instances where consumers received burns from hot oil and eight reports of property damage.

The pans were sold nationwide by HSN LP (Home Shopping Network) from October 2001 through September 2002. They were sold individually for between $20 and $50, or as a set for between $150 and $300. Because the manufacturer is no longer in business, a remedy is no longer available. Consumers should stop using the frying pans immediately and discard or destroy the product.
