The company has received four reports of the buckle breaking and one report of a child putting a broken piece of the buckle in her mouth and starting to choke. The shoes were sold in brown suede, black leather, red leather, navy leather, white leather, and black patent styles. They were manufactured in China and sold at shoe, department, and Stride Rite Outlet stores nationwide from January 2001 through September 2001 for about $25.

Consumers should take the shoes away from their children immediately and return them to the store where purchased for a refund or replacement shoes.
