Kole Imports, of Carson, Calif., is recalling about 90,000 tubes of Super Contact Adhesive. The recalled adhesive comes in a soft metal squeeze tube about 1 inch by 5 inches with a screw top. The tubes are marked "Super Contact Adhesive" and are available in yellow, orange, blue, and white. The product has the UPC code 7-31015-04471-9.
The recall is being conducted because the adhesive contains toluene, which presents a fire and poisoning hazard to consumers. The packaging of this product does not have the required cautionary labeling as mandated by the Federal Hazardous Substances Act. CPSC and Kole Imports have not received any reports of incidents, and the recall is being conducted to prevent the possibility of injuries.
The adhesive was sold at discount and "Dollar" stores nationwide from January 2000 to January 2001 for about $1. Consumers should stop using the adhesive immediately and call Kole Imports toll-free at (866) 251-0982 to receive a full refund. Consumers can also write to Kole Imports at 24600 S. Main Street, Carson, CA 90745 for a refund, but should not mail the product to the company or the retailer.
