Hedstrom Corp. is recalling approximately 190,000 Star Cruiser and Rocket Rider swings that were sold as accessories for backyard gym sets. The recall is due to a defect where the screws holding the swing together can fall out, causing the seat to fall to the ground. This poses an injury risk to children using the equipment.
The company has received 291 reports of seats separating, which resulted in 19 children suffering lacerations, scrapes, and bruises. The affected swings were sold at department, toy, discount, lumber, and hardware stores nationwide, including Toys "R" Us, Wal-Mart, and Kmart, from September 2000 through April 2001. The price range was between $150 and $400.
