The issue was identified on September 27, 2017, when plant employees performing sanitation on processing equipment notified the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS). On the same day, a retail location reported finding metal shavings in a package of ground turkey from the firm. The products were shipped to retail distribution centers in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, New York, North Carolina, South Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee.
There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. Consumers who have purchased these items are urged not to consume them and should throw them away or return them to the place of purchase.
