The recall was initiated due to misbranding and the presence of an undeclared allergen. The products contain milk, a known allergen, which is not declared on the product label.
The scope of this recall was expanded to include an additional 9,850 pounds of beef and pork products produced between Jan. 5, 2016, and June 29, 2017. The affected items include 25-lb. institutional packs of Beef Balls, Beef Tendon Balls, and Pork Patty Balls. These products bear establishment number EST. 40200 inside the USDA mark of inspection and were distributed for institutional use in New York.
FSIS was notified of the issue on Sept. 15, 2017, after the Canadian Food Inspection Agency tested exported product and discovered milk proteins. Further investigation by FSIS inspection personnel on Sept. 25, 2017, identified additional products that did not include milk on the label. There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them.
