Ford is recalling certain 2025 F-Series trucks with a potential brake booster defect that could cause sudden loss of brake function. Owners should not drive affected vehicles until repairs are completed.
What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: This is a critical vehicle safety system defect—complete brake failure if the pushrod disconnects. While no injuries or deaths have been reported, brake failure poses immediate crash risk. The defect affects a fundamental safety system, qualifying it as a significant risk-of-harm situation without yet-reported harm.
Plain-English summary
Ford Motor Company is recalling certain 2025 F-250 SD, F-350 SD, F-450 SD, and F-550 SD vehicles due to a brake system defect affecting approximately 2,345 units.
The brake booster pushrod retaining spring may not have been installed during manufacturing. If the spring is missing, the pushrod can disconnect from the brake pedal, resulting in sudden and complete loss of brake function. This defect violates Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards 135 (Light Vehicle Brake Systems) and 105 (Hydraulic and Electric Brake Systems).
A sudden loss of brake function creates an immediate risk of a crash. Owners are advised not to drive their vehicles until repairs are completed. Dealers will inspect and repair the brake pedal assembly free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on June 20, 2025.
