McLaren vehicles recalled for brake line routing defect
McLaren is recalling 2020-2025 models due to incorrect brake line routing that may cause the wrong brake to activate and lock up a rear wheel, increasing the risk of crash. Dealers will correct the connections at no cost.
What this means for you
Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.
Our severity reasoning: This is a structural vehicle defect in the brake system where lines may be routed incorrectly, causing the wrong brake to activate and potentially locking up a rear wheel, which could result in loss of vehicle control and increased crash risk. Although no injuries have been reported, the defect itself poses a significant hazard.
Plain-English summary
McLaren Automotive Incorporated is recalling certain 2020-2025 model year vehicles including the 600LT, 720S, Artura, GT, and GTS. The brake lines may be routed incorrectly, which could cause the brake system on the incorrect side of the vehicle to activate.
When this occurs, a rear wheel may lock up. A locked rear wheel can cause the driver to lose control of the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Owner notification letters were mailed on April 21, 2025. Dealers will inspect and correct the brake line connections as necessary, free of charge. Owners may contact McLaren customer service at 1-646-429-8916 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-888-275-9171).
