The recall addresses a defect where an exterior roof joint may have been manufactured with insufficient strength. As a result, these vehicles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 221, "School Bus Body Joint Strength."
The affected vehicles include 2019-2023 Blue Bird Vision school buses and 2019-2023 Blue Bird All American school buses. Owners of these vehicles should contact Blue Bird customer service at 1-478-822-2242 to schedule a repair. Owner notification letters were mailed on September 17, 2024.
Dealers will inspect the roof panel joints and install additional rivets as necessary, free of charge. Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.safercar.gov for more information.
