BMW of North America, LLC is recalling certain BMW Dealer Service Part Oil Filters designed to fit S1000RR, M1000RR/R/XR, and HP4 (Race) motorcycles. The affected parts have the part number 11427721779-04.

The vibration frequencies from certain high-revving four-cylinder motorcycle engines can cause the oil filter to unscrew during riding. A loose or detached oil filter can allow oil to escape from the engine and contact the rear tire or road surface, which increases the risk of a crash.

Dealers will inspect and replace the oil filter as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on January 14, 2025. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
