2024 Hyundai Tucson Recalled for Incorrect Tire Information Label
The tire and loading information label on 2024 Hyundai Tucson vehicles may provide incorrect spare tire information, potentially causing confusion during emergency tire replacement.
What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: This is a labeling error affecting vehicle safety (tire selection and pressure), which qualifies as a risk-of-harm product where injury has not yet been reported. No incidents are documented, but the incorrect information could cause crashes or injuries during emergency tire replacement.
Plain-English summary
Hyundai Motor America is recalling certain 2024 Hyundai Tucson vehicles. The tire and loading information label may incorrectly indicate spare tire pressure or information when the vehicle does not have a spare tire on-board. These vehicles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 110, "Tire Selection and Rims."
A label that incorrectly states spare tire pressure when there is no spare tire may cause confusion during an emergency tire replacement. This confusion could increase the risk of improper tire pressure installation, potentially leading to a crash or injury.
Hyundai has notified owners by mail as of September 5, 2023. Dealers will inspect and replace the tire and loading information label as necessary, free of charge. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153).
