Genesis Vehicles Seat Belt Pretensioners May Explode in Crashes

An exploding seat belt pretensioner can project metal fragments into the vehicle, strike occupants, and result in injury.

Approximately 65,517 vehicles are affected by this recall. Owner notification letters were mailed on April 14, 2023.

The remedy is to have dealers secure the seat belt pretensioners with a cap, free of charge. Owners should contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 to schedule service. Vehicles previously repaired under recall 21V-796 will need to have the new remedy completed.
