Plain-English summary
Marion Body Works Inc. is recalling certain 2021-2023 Spartan Fire Gladiator, MetroStar, and FC-94 fire trucks, as well as 2021-2023 KME Panther fire trucks. The recall addresses a defect in the tie rod clamps, which may have been improperly heat-treated. This defect can cause the clamps to fail, allowing the tie rods to separate.
Tie rod separation can result in a sudden loss of steering, which increases the risk of a crash. The affected vehicles include the Spartan Fire Gladiator, MetroStar, and FC-94 models from model years 2021 through 2023, and the KME Panther model from model years 2021 through 2023.
Dealers will replace both tie rod clamps free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on December 13, 2022. Owners may contact Marion's customer service at 1-715-754-5261 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236. Marion's number for this recall is 22V-778.
