Plain-English summary
Gillig, LLC is recalling certain 2020-2021 Low Floor Battery Electric vehicles equipped with Cummins Electric Drivetrain Systems. The recall addresses a defect in the electrical propulsion system where the high-voltage shutdown override switch may not function when a system shutdown occurs. In such cases, the driver receives no warning that the override switch is inoperable.
An unexpected vehicle shutdown that cannot be overridden increases the risk of a crash. Dealers will inspect and update the parameter settings for the protection override switch as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on November 12, 2021.
Owners may contact Gillig's customer service at 1-800-735-1500 or 1-510-264-5073. Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
