The recall addresses a defect where the shoulder belt and ground anchors intended to hold a wheelchair in place may detach during a crash. This condition causes the vehicles to fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 222, "School Bus Passenger Seating and Crash Protection."
If the shoulder belt and ground anchors detach during a crash, there is an increased risk of injury to the occupant. The recall began on November 23, 2020.
