Autocar Recalls 2014-2018 Xpeditor Trucks for Frame Cross-Member Defect
Autocar is recalling 82 Xpeditor vehicles from 2014-2018 because a frame cross-member may fail, causing supported components to detach and increasing crash risk.
What this means for you
Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.
Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a structural vehicle defect (frame cross-member failure) that can cause components to detach, increasing the risk of a crash, which aligns with the 'Severe' criteria for structural defects.
Plain-English summary
Autocar, LLC is recalling 82 model year 2014-2018 Xpeditor vehicles. The recall applies to vehicles manufactured with a single cross-member behind the engine and equipped with a front engine power take off (FEPTO). The mounting brackets of the first cross-member behind the engine may fail prematurely due to strain caused by improper spacing between the cross-members. This failure can cause the supportive cross-member to become loose and detach from the frame rails.
If the cross-member fails, the components that it supports may come loose from the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash. Autocar issued an interim notification to owners on September 18, 2020. These vehicles were separated out of a previous Autocar recall (19V-456) due to their unique configuration.
Dealers will replace any damaged components and install additional support brackets and an additional cross-member free of charge. Owners may contact Autocar's customer service at 1-888-218-3611 or 1-877-973-3486. Autocar's number for this recall is ACX-2003. Owners may also contact the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 or visit www.safercar.gov.
