Tiffin is recalling 2019-2020 Allegro Open Road motorhomes because a hydraulic hose may rub against the tire, causing sudden deflation and crash risk.

What this means for you

Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a structural vehicle defect (hydraulic hose routing) that can lead to sudden tire deflation and an increased risk of a crash, meeting the criteria for a Severe rating.

Plain-English summary

Tiffin Motorhomes, Inc. is recalling certain 2019-2020 Allegro Open Road motorhomes equipped with Liquid Spring suspension systems. The recall addresses a defect where a hydraulic suspension hose may be routed incorrectly, resulting in contact between the hose and the inside rear tire.

If the tire is rubbed repeatedly by the hose, the tire may suddenly deflate, which increases the risk of a crash. Tiffin will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the position of the hydraulic hoses. If the position is found to be incorrect, the clamp position will be corrected, and the hydraulic hoses and tires will be inspected for damage. Damaged components will be replaced as necessary.

These repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began on August 23, 2019. Owners may contact Tiffin customer service at 1-256-356-8661. Tiffin's number for this recall is TIF-112. Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
