The recall addresses a defect where the parking brake cable may disengage from the foot pedal assembly. This issue allows the bus to move unintentionally, which increases the risk of a crash. As a result, these vehicles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 105, "Hydraulic and Electric Brake Systems."
Owners of the affected vehicles should contact Blue Bird customer service at 1-478-822-2242 or their local dealer. Dealers will install a clevis cable retention clip and a cable-end return spring free of charge. The recall began on February 6, 2019. Blue Bird's number for this recall is R19ZU-NSB.
