Jayco is recalling 2018-2019 fifth-wheel trailers because the propane tank strap may separate, increasing the risk of a crash or fire.

What this means for you

Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a structural defect in the propane tank securing system that could lead to a crash or fire, meeting the criteria for a structural vehicle defect or significant injury/property-damage risk.

Plain-English summary

Jayco, Inc. is recalling certain 2018-2019 Eagle, Eagle HT, NorthPoint, Pinnacle, Talon, and Seismic fifth-wheel recreational trailers. The recall addresses a defect where the strap that secures the liquid propane (LP) gas bottle may separate from its buckle, failing to secure the propane tank.

An unsecured propane tank could detach from the trailer, increasing the risk of a crash. Additionally, a detached tank could leak propane, increasing the risk of a fire. The recall began on July 27, 2018.

Jayco will notify owners, and dealers will replace the propane tank securing strap with a new strap that has the correct crimping, free of charge. Owners may contact Jayco customer service at 1-800-517-9137 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
