Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a structural vehicle defect in safety-critical air bags that increases the risk of injury in a crash, meeting the criteria for a Severe rating.

Plain-English summary

Karma Automotive LLC is recalling certain 2018 Karma Revero vehicles. The recall addresses a defect where the side curtain/head protection air bags may partially detach from the inflator during air bag deployment in the event of a crash. This issue affects the performance of the air bags and causes the vehicles to fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 226, "Ejection Mitigation."

If the air bags are not fully connected to the inflator, they may not inflate properly, which increases the risk of injury in the event of a crash. The recall is expected to begin on April 17, 2018.

Karma will notify owners, and dealers will install new side curtain/head protection air bags that have an additional clamp to secure the air bag to the inflator, free of charge. Owners may contact Karma customer service at 1-855-288-6109 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
