Thor Motor Coach Recalls 2010-2011 Motorhomes Due to Fire Risk

Thor Motor Coach is recalling 124 Hurricane, Serrano, and Windsport motorhomes because a transfer switch may overheat and cause a fire.

What this means for you

Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a structural vehicle defect (electrical component) that creates a risk of fire, which aligns with the 'Severe' criteria for significant injury/property-damage reports or structural defects.

Plain-English summary

Thor Motor Coach is recalling certain 2010-2011 Hurricane, 2011 Serrano, and 2011 Windsport motorhomes. The recall affects 124 vehicles that are wired to be powered by a generator and equipped with an Iota ITS-50R transfer switch.

The Iota ITS-50R transfer switch may fail when exposed to elevated electrical loads and used in higher temperatures. This failure can cause the transfer switch to overheat, increasing the risk of a fire.

Thor Motor Coach will notify owners, and dealers will replace the Iota ITS-50R transfer switch with a transfer switch from another manufacturer, free of charge. The recall began on September 7, 2017. Owners may contact TMC customer service at 1-877-500-1020 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
