What this means for you
Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.
Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a structural vehicle defect (buckle mount rod fracture) that prevents proper occupant restraint in a crash, meeting the criteria for a Severe rating.
Plain-English summary
Indiana Mills and Manufacturing Inc. (IMMI) is recalling certain Generation IV School Bus seats, part number 911698. These seats are equipped with 3-point lap and shoulder belts. The recall involves 1,185 affected units.
The seats have a buckle mount rod that may fracture under load. This defect causes the seats to fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 210, "Seat Belt Assembly Anchorages." In the event of a crash, the fracture may prevent the occupant from being properly restrained, increasing the risk of injury.
IMMI will notify the school bus manufacturers that purchased the seats. Dealers for those companies will replace the buckle mount rods free of charge. Owners may contact IMMI customer service at 1-317-896-9531 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
