Hyundai Motor America is recalling certain model year 2010-2016 Genesis Coupe vehicles manufactured between December 12, 2008, and June 11, 2016. The recall involves approximately 84,500 vehicles where the electrical harness connector for the front passenger seat Occupant Classification System (OCS) may dislodge when the seat is moved.

If the connector becomes disconnected, the OCS will default to deploying only the first stage of the passenger frontal air bag in a crash. This can increase the risk of injury to the front seat occupant, either by failing to deploy the air bag when a child seat is present or by failing to deploy the second stage in a severe crash.

Hyundai will notify owners, and dealers will secure the OCS connector to prevent it from disconnecting, free of charge. Parts are not currently available, and a second letter will be sent to owners when parts are available.
