Newmar Recalls 2014-2016 Motorhomes Due to Brake Signal Defect

The defect involves a heavier, adjustable foot pedal that may fail to deactivate the brake activation signal to certain towed devices when the service brakes are released. If the signal remains active, the brakes on the towed device may stay engaged, causing them to drag and potentially overheat, which could result in a fire. Additionally, the unexpected braking behavior may confuse following drivers, increasing the risk of a crash.

Freightliner dealers will modify the affected assemblies free of charge. The recall began on May 26, 2016. Owners can contact Freightliner/Daimler Trucks North America LLC at 1-800-547-0712 or Newmar customer service at 1-800-731-8300. Newmar's number for this recall is 16V-204.
