Jayco Eagle Trailers Recalled for Unprotected Solar Battery Cable Fire Risk

Jayco, Inc. is recalling certain model year 2016 Eagle Half Ton fifth wheels and Eagle travel trailers manufactured between April 8, 2015, and February 19, 2016. The recall involves 2,105 vehicles.

In the affected trailers, the positive cable connecting the battery box to the roof-mounted solar panel preparation package may not be protected by a circuit breaker. Without this protection, the wire may short circuit, increasing the risk of a fire.

Jayco will notify owners, and dealers will tie the unprotected circuit into a 30amp circuit breaker free of charge. The recall began on March 18, 2016. Owners may contact Jayco customer service at 1-800-283-8267 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
