Newmar Recalls 2015-2016 Ventana Motorhomes Due to Rim Pressure Mismatch

Newmar is recalling 2015-2016 Ventana and Ventana LE motorhomes because front rims may have a lower pressure rating than the tires, increasing crash risk.

What this means for you

Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a structural vehicle defect (rim failure) that increases the risk of a crash, which aligns with the 'Severe' criteria for structural vehicle defects.

Plain-English summary

Newmar Corporation is recalling certain model year 2015 Ventana and 2015-2016 Ventana LE vehicles manufactured between January 16, 2015, and January 13, 2016. These vehicles were built on Freightliner Chassis. The recall involves 165 affected units.

The defect involves a mismatch between the front rim maximum pressure rating and the tire maximum inflation rating. The front rims may have a maximum rating of 120 psi, while the Michelin tires have a maximum inflation rating of 130 psi. If the tires are inflated to their maximum pressure, the rims may suddenly fail due to over-pressurization, which increases the risk of a crash.

Newmar will notify owners. Dealers will either install a new Federal Tag Label with the correct psi rating or install 130 psi rated front rims, at the owner's choice. The recall began on March 22, 2016. Owners may contact Newmar customer service at 1-574-773-7791 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
