Roush Recalls 2015 Ford Mustang GT Stage 3 for Brake Caliper Defect

Roush is recalling 2015 Ford Mustang GT Roush Stage 3 vehicles because a brake caliper guide pin may loosen, reducing rear braking ability and increasing crash risk.

What this means for you

Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a structural vehicle defect in the braking system that can lead to a partial loss of rear braking ability and an increased risk of a crash, meeting the criteria for a Severe rating.

Plain-English summary

Roush Performance Products, Inc. is recalling certain model year 2015 Ford Mustang GT Roush Stage 3 vehicles manufactured between April 1, 2015, and October 31, 2015. These vehicles are equipped with Roush Extreme Duty Half Shafts. The recall affects 461 vehicles.

The defect involves a brake caliper guide pin that may not have been sufficiently tightened during the installation of the half shafts. As a result, the caliper guide pin may loosen while driving, which reduces the vehicle's rear braking ability. A partial loss of the rear braking system can increase the risk of a crash.

Roush will notify owners, and Roush-authorized Ford dealers will tighten the caliper guide pin to the proper specification free of charge. The recall began in February 2016. Owners may contact Roush customer service at 1-800-597-6874 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
