Thor Motor Coach Recalls 2015 Siesta and Citation Motorhomes
Thor Motor Coach is recalling 2015 Siesta and Citation motorhomes because an incorrectly installed door component may make doors harder to open after a crash.
What this means for you
Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.
Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a structural vehicle defect (door mechanism) that increases the risk of injury in a crash scenario, meeting the criteria for a Severe rating.
Plain-English summary
Thor Motor Coach is recalling certain model year 2015 Siesta and Citation motorhomes manufactured between September 26, 2014, and February 27, 2015. These vehicles are built on a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter chassis. The recall involves 197 units.
The defect involves the abutting wedge, a component attached to the door jamb designed to make opening the door easier after a severe frontal crash. In the affected vehicles, this component may have been installed incorrectly. If a vehicle with this defect is involved in a severe frontal crash, a greater force may be necessary to open the doors, which increases the risk of injury.
Mercedes-Benz will notify owners on behalf of Thor. Dealers will inspect the installation of the abutting wedge and correct it if necessary, free of charge. The recall began on March 23, 2015. Owners may contact Thor customer service at 1-877-500-1020 or Sprinter Customer Service at 1-877-762-8267.
