Plain-English summary
Henderson Wheel & Trailer Supply Inc. is recalling specific torsion arm assemblies, including part numbers B-7100A, B-7110A, HT-35XL, T35545EB, T35545I, T35550EB, T35550HB, T35550I, T35655EB, and T35655I. These units were manufactured between February 18, 2015, and August 25, 2015. The recall covers approximately 600 units.
The defect involves a torsion arm that was manufactured too small for its housing. This sizing issue may cause the torsion arm, spindle, and tire and wheel assemblies to detach from the trailer. A separation of the torsion arm can result in a loss of trailer stability and control, increasing the risk of a crash.
Henderson Wheel will notify the trailer manufacturers that used these axles in their production. Those manufacturers will notify their customers and reinforce or replace the torsion arm assemblies free of charge. The recall began on August 15, 2014. Owners may contact Henderson Wheel customer service at 1-801-486-4916 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
