ARBOC Spirit of Mobility Transit Buses Recalled for Non-Safety-Stamped Windows

ARBOC is recalling 2015 Spirit of Mobility transit buses because driver-side windows lack required safety stamps, posing a glass shard injury risk.

What this means for you

Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a risk-of-harm product (glass shards causing injury) where no specific injuries or fatalities have been reported in the source text, fitting the High severity criteria.

Plain-English summary

ARBOC Specialty Vehicles, LLC is recalling certain model year 2015 Spirit of Mobility transit buses. The affected vehicles were manufactured between June 23, 2014, and November 21, 2014. A total of 43 vehicles are included in this recall.

The defect involves driver-side transition windows that were not safety stamped. Consequently, these vehicles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 205 "Glazing Materials." If a window breaks, the lack of safety glazing can create glass shards, increasing the risk of personal injury.

ARBOC will notify owners, and dealers will replace the window free of charge. The recall began on December 19, 2014. Owners may contact ARBOC customer service at 1-574-825-1720. ARBOC's number for this recall is TSB1415. Owners may also contact the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 or visit www.safercar.gov.
