The defect involves the fuel filter shell potentially separating from the fuel filter nut plate. This separation can cause the engine to stall without warning, which increases the risk of a crash if the vehicle is in operation.

Cummins will notify owners, and dealers will replace the defective fuel filter with a non-defective one free of charge. The recall began in September 2014.
