Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a fuel system defect that creates a risk of fire, which aligns with the rubric criterion for 'significant injury/property-damage reports' or structural vehicle defects involving fire hazards.
Plain-English summary
Adrian Steel Company is recalling certain model year 2012 Ford E-150, E-250, and E-350 Commercial Cargo Vans that were modified by Adrian between September 21, 2012, and September 24, 2012. The recall affects 28 vehicles equipped with propane fuel system conversion kits containing an aluminum fuel line fitting manufactured by Roush CleanTech.
The defect involves a reaction between the aluminum fuel line fitting and the brass supply valve housing, which may develop a propane leak. A propane leak in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a fire.
Adrian will notify owners, and dealers will replace the aluminum fuel line fittings with stainless steel fittings free of charge. The recall began in July 2014. Owners may contact Adrian customer service at 1-800-677-2726 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
