Plain-English summary

All Wheel Drive Equipment Mfg., Inc. is recalling certain 2011-2012 Ford F-550 Super Duty chassis vehicles. These specific vehicles are equipped with a 6.8L gasoline engine, have been modified by All Wheel, and feature certain Muncie Power Products PTO Assemblies.

The recall addresses a defect where oil may leak from the PTO pressure switch onto a thermal blanket covering the exhaust system. If the leaking oil soaks into the thermal blanket, the combination of the oil and exhaust heat may result in an increased risk of fire.

Owners were notified by certified mail on June 10, 2014. Dealers will install a new pressure switch kit that moves the switch away from the exhaust system free of charge. Owners may contact All Wheel customer service at 1-800-311-4778 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
