Schwarze Industries, Inc. is recalling certain model year 2009 Schwarze M6000SE CNG-powered street sweepers equipped with specific Cummins Westport Model ISL G engines. The recall addresses a defect where condensation in the intake manifold may freeze during cold weather conditions. This freezing can interfere with the proper operation of the intake manifold pressure sensor.
The improper operation of the sensor could induce elevated exhaust temperatures or flames from the exhaust pipe. This condition increases the risk of a vehicle fire or burn injury to a person near the exhaust pipe.
Dealers will upload a new ECM calibration free of charge to correct the issue. The recall began in July 2014. Owners may contact Schwarze customer service at 1-800-879-7933 or Cummins Inc. at 1-800-343-7357. Owners may also contact the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
