What this means for you

Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a structural vehicle defect (fuel system) that creates a risk of fire, which aligns with the rubric criteria for a Severe (4) rating involving significant injury or property-damage reports/risks.

Plain-English summary

Blue Bird Body Company is recalling certain model year 2012-2013 Vision school buses manufactured between January 10, 2012, and April 24, 2013. These vehicles are equipped with a Roush CleanTech LLC propane fuel system.

The recall addresses a defect where a reaction between different metals may cause a propane leak where the aluminum fuel line fitting contacts the brass supply valve housing. A propane leak in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a fire.

Blue Bird will notify owners, and dealers will replace the aluminum fuel line fitting with a new stainless steel fitting free of charge. The recall began on July 3, 2014. Owners may contact Blue Bird customer service at 1-478-822-2242 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
