Honda Recalls 2005-2010 Odyssey Vehicles for Fuel Pump Leak Risk

Honda is recalling 2005-2010 Odyssey vehicles because a deteriorating fuel pump strainer cover may leak fuel, increasing the risk of a fire.

What this means for you

Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a fuel system defect that increases the risk of a fire, which aligns with the rubric criterion for 'significant injury/property-damage reports' or structural vehicle defects involving fire hazards.

Plain-English summary

American Honda Motor Co., Inc. is recalling certain 2005-2010 Honda Odyssey vehicles manufactured between June 23, 2004, and September 4, 2010. The recall involves approximately 886,815 vehicles. In the affected vehicles, the fuel pump strainer cover may deteriorate, allowing fuel to leak out.

A fuel leak increases the risk of a fire. Parts to permanently repair the affected vehicles were not initially available, so Honda notified owners with an interim letter during May 2014. A second notice was mailed to owners on October 6, 2014, when the remedy became available.

Owners should contact Honda at 1-800-999-1009 to schedule the repair. Vehicles currently leaking from the fuel pump cover will receive a replacement original cover. All vehicles, including those receiving the interim repair, will receive an improved cover when available. The recall numbers associated with this campaign are JD9 and JE0.
