What this means for you
Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.
Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a defect that can interfere with the accelerator pedal, leading to unintended vehicle speeds and an increased risk of a crash, which aligns with the rubric criteria for significant injury or property damage reports.
Plain-English summary
Omix Ada, Inc. is recalling certain Rugged Ridge All Terrain, Cabela's Custom-Fit, Line-X Truck Gear, and Tread Lightly aftermarket floor mats. These mats were manufactured between November 1, 2009, and August 27, 2014, for use in Chevrolet and GMC full-size trucks and SUVs.
The affected floor mats may move forward unintentionally. If this occurs, the mats can interfere with the movement of the accelerator pedal, preventing it from returning to the idle position. This interference could result in unintended vehicle speeds, which increases the risk of a crash.
Omix Ada will notify its wholesale customers and provide owners with a floor liner anchor and hook to secure the mats free of charge. Owners may also have these components installed by an Omix designated service center at no cost. The recall began on October 15, 2014. Owners can contact Omix Ada customer service at 1-844-642-7625 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
