The defect involves an incorrect routing of the ground wire near the alternator. This routing may lead to the chaffing and abrasion of the wire. A damaged alternator ground wire could result in a short circuit and may lead to a vehicle fire.
Setra's designated importer, Motor Coach Industries (MCI), will conduct the recall. MCI will notify owners and reroute the wiring free of charge. The safety recall began on December 14, 2012.
