Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) is recalling certain model year 2006 through 2011 Thomas Built Buses Minotour, Saf-T-Liner HDX, and MVP-EF non-school buses. These vehicles were manufactured between January 2, 2006, and January 31, 2011, and are equipped with Carrier GenV EM-1 evaporator units.
The recall addresses a defect where the fuse in the air conditioning unit may loosen in the fuse holder due to time, temperature, and/or vibration. This loosening can result in high resistance and arcing. If sufficient arcing occurs, the fuse holder may melt, potentially leading to a vehicle fire.
DTNA will notify owners and provide information on how to obtain a retrofit kit from Carrier along with repair instructions. This service will be performed free of charge.
