What this means for you

Plain-English summary

Mack Trucks, Inc. is recalling certain model year 2008-2012 LEU and MRU heavy trucks manufactured between January 3, 2007, and February 3, 2011. The recall involves 3,763 vehicles where the electrical circuitry may not provide adequate overcurrent protection.

In the event of an electrical overage, the fuse intended to prevent overcurrent from reaching the mirror switch circuit may fail. This failure can cause the mirror switch to overheat, which could result in a vehicle fire.

Dealers will install a relay harness to prevent the mirror switch from overheating and will inspect the switch for signs of damage, replacing it if necessary. All repairs are free of charge. The safety recall began on June 30, 2011. Owners may contact Mack Trucks at 1-800-866-1177 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
