Vapor Bus International is recalling certain teeter lever assemblies, part numbers 50530211-02 and 50530211-04, that were sold and installed on various transit buses as part of the rear side exit door. These parts were also sold as replacement parts.

The recall is due to insufficient engagement between the teeter lever base and the cam plate. This defect may cause the rear side exit door to operate improperly. If the assembly fails, a passenger leaning on or forced against the door could fall through and sustain injuries.

Vapor Bus is working with manufacturers to identify and notify owners of buses equipped with the defective parts. Vapor will repair affected buses free of charge and replace parts for owners who purchased them as aftermarket units. The safety recall began on April 28, 2011.
