Elgin Sweeper Company is recalling certain model year 2007 through 2010 Broom Bear street sweepers. These vehicles are mounted in International 4300 chassis only and were manufactured from May 2007 through March 2010.
The recall addresses a defect where the chassis suspension rear control arms and tower may not have been properly welded to specification. If the welds crack, the control arms or tower can separate from the axle. Should this occur while the vehicle is in motion, the operator can lose steering control, possibly resulting in personal injury or death.
