Volvo Recalls S80 Vehicles for Incorrect Tire Pressure Information
Volvo is recalling 2007-2010 S80 vehicles because tire labels and monitoring software contain incorrect pressure data, failing federal safety standards.
What this means for you
Minor labeling or packaging issue, or a voluntary precautionary recall. Risk of harm is low but real — follow the manufacturer's instructions.
Our severity reasoning: The recall addresses incorrect labeling and software calibration without reported injuries or deaths, fitting the criteria for moderate severity involving minor labeling errors or low-risk contamination.
Plain-English summary
Volvo Cars of N.A. LLC. is recalling certain model year 2007-2010 S80 vehicles. The recall addresses a failure to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 110, "Tire Selection and Rims." Specifically, the tire and loading information label and a page in the owner's manual contain incorrect maximum permissible inflation pressure. Additionally, the tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) software has an incorrect trigger level.
These vehicles do not meet the required safety standards due to the inaccurate pressure information. The recall is expected to begin on or about August 27, 2010. Dealers will update the vehicles with a new tire and loading information label, an owner's manual label, and updated TPMS software. This service will be performed free of charge.
