Volvo Recalls 2010 XC70 Vehicles for Incorrect Tire Pressure Labels
Volvo is recalling certain 2010 XC70 vehicles because the tire and loading information labels contain incorrect maximum permissible inflation pressure.
What this means for you
Minor labeling or packaging issue, or a voluntary precautionary recall. Risk of harm is low but real — follow the manufacturer's instructions.
Our severity reasoning: The recall addresses a labeling error regarding tire pressure that fails to meet federal safety standards, which aligns with the rubric for minor labeling errors and low-risk issues without reported injuries.
Plain-English summary
Volvo Cars of N.A. LLC. is recalling certain model year 2010 Volvo XC70 vehicles manufactured between December 5, 2006, and October 1, 2009. The recall addresses a failure to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 110, "Tire Selection and Rims."
The defect involves the FMVSS label, the tire and loading information label, and a page in the owner's manual, which all contain incorrect maximum permissible inflation pressure information. This does not meet the requirements of the standard.
Volvo retailers will update the vehicles with a new FMVSS label, a new tire and loading information label, and TPMS software. Retailers will also apply a label with correct maximum tire pressure information to the owner's manual. This service will be performed free of charge. The recall began on June 14, 2010. Owners may contact Volvo at 1-800-458-1552 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
