Plain-English summary

New York Lighter Company, Inc. is voluntarily recalling approximately 23,750 non-refillable "Good Time Troll" cigarette lighters. These lighters were distributed by New York Lighter Company and sold at convenience stores nationwide from January through July 1993. The lighters are printed with one of four troll designs: "Party Troll," "Rockin' Troll," "King Troll," or "Lucky Troll." The flue of the lighter is labeled "THAILAND" and "C-LITE."

The recall is being issued because the lighters are very attractive to children and may invite play. If a child plays with the lighter, a fire and/or serious burn injuries may result. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) discovered the lighters advertised in a catalog provided by the New York Lighter Company.

Consumers should first ensure the lighters are in a secure place, out of reach of children. Then, consumers should call 1-800-626-4732 to receive special prepaid packaging and complete instructions for returning the lighters. When the lighter is returned to the New York Lighter Company, a free gift will be sent to the consumer.
