Petrus Umbrella Strollers Recalled for Restraint Defects and Choking Hazard

The affected models are 1000, 1100, and 1101, which were sold nationally by Service Merchandise, Caldor's, Zayre's, and Ames. Model numbers are located on the instruction sheet and on a label on the stroller's rear legs; some model 1101 labels are partly handwritten and read "1101/PTR."
The recall addresses two specific hazards. First, the seat belts on these models may not restrain properly, posing a risk that a toddler leaning too far forward could fall and strike their head on the ground or the front of the stroller. Second, tube end plugs may come off on strollers manufactured in Taiwan, creating a choking hazard if a young child places the plug in their mouth. The CPSC and the firm are aware of six consumer complaints associated with the restraint system, including three minor injuries to young children, and one complaint regarding a loose tube end plug. No choking incidents have been reported.
